After 5 years, Dead by Daylight will finally get correct matchmaking

Dead by Daylight brempes his matchmaking and ensures that it goes better to all players — so at least the theory.

Matchmaking is a great criticism in Dead by Daylight. No matter what time in the past 5 years — again and again there are complaints in the subreddit. Now Dead by Daylight goes exactly this problem and rewards multipliers with a lot of bloodpoints. We reveal what changes.

What was the problem? Dead by Daylight had no good match making so far. The only indicator of this was the rank of players. However, it only reflects these can be a player and rather a sign of how much time you spend in the game. Because in principle, each player sooner or later reaches the upper ranks, if you just play enough matches.

Nevertheless, it felt like many players as if they were playing with or against the very best survivors or killers, if someone has had a red rank — even if that is hardly something about that.

What is changed? As previously tested several times, Dead by Daylight uses a skill-based matchmaking with the next patch. Then no longer decides against whom you play, but a certain value, which — as in many other games also — is — your ability and changed by victories and defeats.

Especially interesting: You have your own matchmaking value for every killer. So if you are with the trapper an absolute killer god, then you also get strong survivors there. However, if you do your first goals with the nurse and does not cope so well, then weaker opponents will be allocated.

Really brings the system? At least that’s what the developers claim and have published a few numbers. You have compared the latest test with skill-based matchmaking with the rank-based matchmaking lots and came to the following conclusions:

  • During the main playing time, 99% of the matches were considered appropriate Gebranced, the probabilities for escape (as survivor) or killing (as killer) were +/- 25% of the average.
  • Better yet, 75% of the games were even in a range of +/- 5% of the average.
  • In the old system, 99% of the games had a deviation of 45% and 75% of the matches still a deviation of 25%.

More about Dead by Daylight is here on MeinMMO:

  • A player has 200,000,000 bloodpoints — but you should not be jealous
  • Against so ingenious team play the killer has no chance
  • When Pinhead murdered, he deletes you from the game!

What do ranks bring? Ranks are replaced by the new degree system. This works quite as well as so far, so that your pips can be obtained and thus upgrading or descending. However, the grades have no effect on the matchmaking.

But there is another benefit: with the monthly rank reset (which becomes a grade reset), all players are reset to the lowest degrees (ashes). At the same time, each player gets credited blood points, depending on the recent seasonal degree. For the best place it should give it a whopping 250,000 blood points and then less, if you do not rise so far.

What do you think about these changes? Are the good innovations for Dead by Daylight? Or do you first believe that the new rank system works, if you really have seen it?
