FIFA 20 Timed Finishing Tips

New, to FIFA 20, timed shooting or timed finishing is something that you’ll need to get to grips with and fast. Here’s how: In the past, spamming the shot button or just powering up before the ball arrived from across would be fine. Not anymore. It should also be mentioned that if you connect perfectly and time your shot to perfection, this doesn’t guarantee that you’re going to score a goal.

How it works:
So power up your shot, as you would have done in the previous versions of the game, if you want 3 bars of power, put 3 bars of energy on your shot. Then, as the ball comes closer to your player's foot (as they draw it back after you have powered up the shot previously) you press the shot button again.

The closer you press to the ball making contact with your player's foot/head, the better the strike will be on goal and the higher % chance of scoring will be achieved. Of course, you’re still in charge of the direction and various other factors will still affect whether your shot goes in or not.
Below shows how to practice with the trainer turned on, if you do so require. Using the settings shown below will mean you get the timed finishing bar and not the pass
Receiver and the shot elevation indicators.

Can I turn it off if I don’t like it?
YES, you can. However, U4GM FIFA 20 Coins Seller advise you to get to grips with this as soon as possible actively. With the players with high shooting attributes, if you get timed finishing working, you’re going to make those players even more of a threat, especially from range and from volleys/headers.

TIP — If you find yourself and your muscle memory going to double-tap, to perform the old, driven shot in FIFA 18, then turn it off until you have trained yourself to use the new driven shot (R1+L1 / RB+LB) and later try turning it back on.

This is what the trainer icons look like if you’re wanting to practice your skills offline before heading online. The picture on the right shows perfect timing achieved.

Being late is better than being early
Essentially, what U4GM is saying here is if you don’t press the button before your shot is hit, then it will just count as a regular shot, and you won’t get that ‘perfect’ strike. This doesn’t mean that you can’t score; it only lowers your chances. If you’re early on the second press of the button, then your player will likely scuff the shot or blaze it high over the bar/wide. The further away from the player, you tap for the second time, the worse the chance. Simple, right?

When is it best to use?
Timed finishing is definitely better used when the ball is either rolling towards your player or in the air for a volley or a header. The reason behind this being that you power up your shot however you like and that gives you time to the time the shot as it reaches your player. When dribbling, the old version of shooting is probably best as the ball stays so close to your player’s foot.

TIP — Take a double touch with the right stick, where you have space, and then you’ll have time to power up the shot and then time the finish when your player is moving onto the ball. Perfect from long range and one v one situations with the GK.
So, there you have it. FIFA 20 introduced this timed finishing to increase the skill gap and give the players who do use it the added advantage of being able to have higher accurate shots etc.
