Nübel reveals: Return to FC Bayern is not sure
Last summer, Alexander Nübel first turned FC Bayern back and followed the AS Monaco on loan for two years. But although the goalkeeper has risen to number one in the principality, he obviously does not think about a longer whereabouts.
From a purely Bayerning point of view, the new adventure in Monaco fully paid off for Alexander Nübel: In all 34 league games, the former keeper of FC Schalke stood on the lawn over the full distance, kept his box clean ten times and has only conceded 35 goals.
All the more surprising is the 25-year-old’s clear rejection in terms of long commitment in the principality. In conversation with “Ran”, Nübel replied to a question with a clear “no”. His reason: “Everything is great at the moment, but if I shouldn’t play here anymore, I would rather go back to Germany.”
However, the Paderborn native will surely spend the coming season in Monaco. According to Nübel, Nübel feels at home in the small city state, but at the same time he misses a potentially “calmer life” in Germany.
Nübel return to FC Bayern not sure: “Let’s see what happens”
Meanwhile, the goalkeeper left open whether his future will actually be at Bayern. In Munich, there will probably be no way around Platzhirsch Manuel Neuer in the next few years.
“I still have a contract until 2025 and have been borrowed here for another year and a half. Let’s see what happens then,” said Nübel, who raved about a “great experience” in Monaco.
In any case, the loan player feels well integrated in the team. “I think we have a good troop and it is currently going relatively well,” emphasized the former U21 national goalkeeper.
